One of our more recent projects that we are very excited to start work on is the Snowy Hydro 2.0 renewable energy project with major contractors Future Generation. With our experience helping businesses to transition from paper to glass and create smoother internal processes using digital technology, we’re hoping to help Snowy Hydro create a sustainable and safe system that will be used throughout the duration of the project.
What exactly is Snowy Hydro 2.0?
“Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme’s history. It is a nation-building renewable energy project that will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.”
The Snowy Hydro 2.0 project is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia, with the goal of generating 2,000MW of energy, primarily powered by water. This project aims to lower costs and lower emissions as well as providing significant training and development opportunities for the workforce in Australia. It will generate around 4,000 jobs in the Snowy Mountains region as well as thousands more in supply chain and service roles across the country.
How does Snowy Hydro 2.0 work?
By linking two existing dams, Tatangara and Talbingo, with 27km of tunnels, Snowy Hydro 2.0 will be able to generate power through an underground power station by pumping water to the upper dam and then releasing it back to the lower dam. When there is a surplus of renewable energy and the demand for energy is low, the pumps will push the water to the upper dam. When the demand for electricity is high, the water will be released back to the lower dam to generate more electricity.
What is Kynection doing to help?
With the project expected to start generating power by early 2025, the team at Kynection is will deploy KIM, our state of the art paperless system for Snowy Hydro 2.0. With some customisations to the base platform, we will streamline their processes and help them to keep their teams and project cargo safe at all times.
