Regulators are moving to enforce a change for the good of our planet. But you get busy, and it’s easy to forget how dangerous pollution can be. And one big unwanted result of pollution is Acidic Rain! But even though it may sound too big to control – we all have a legal responsibility to do so, by minimising the risks of our environmental harm.
With a digital Integrated Management System (IMS) in place you can manage your health, safety and environmental requirements with ease.
Acidic rain is caused by coal-burning, manufacturing activities, power plants, burning of fossil fuels, release of acidic pollutants, nitrogen oxide and more. Acidic rain reduces the alkalinity of water, which weakens the ecosystem and leads to the death of fish and other aquatic species. It dissolves the nutrients that help trees and plants grow and makes them prone to harm and damage. It also causes building erosion and more.
There aren’t many Alternative Rock bands as familiar to us as R.E.M. They had a very unique stage presence and appealed to people of all ages and backgrounds through their tunes and lyrics. Let’s listen to their words and reflect together on what pollution actually means.
“There’s a problem, feathers, iron
Bargain buildings, weights and pulleys
Feathers hit the ground
Before the weight can leave the air
Buy the sky and sell the sky
And tell the sky ,and tell the sky
Don’t fall on me (What is it up in the air for?) “
– R.E.M, 1986
